Officer in mounted parade dress, Royal Guard, Iraq, 1940

Headdress Iraqi style sun helmet covered with white cloth. Around the base of the crown is a three-fold puggaree. Attached to the apex of the crown is a drooping plume of white feathers. A brass chin chain is fixed under the short side brim.

Tunic White with white cord decoration on the chest and cuffs. On the shoulders are thin cords that bear the badges of rank.

Brass buttons are used throughout.

I am unsure of the rear decoration of the tunic.

Equipment Leather waist belt with union buckle that probably bears the Iraqi crown in its centre.

Legwear Dark blue breeches with thin red welt down the outer seams, tucked into riding boots.

Weapon Infantry pattern sword.
