Officer in mounted parade dress, Royal Guard, Iraq, 1940
Headdress – Iraqi style sun helmet covered with white cloth. Around the base of the crown is a three-fold puggaree. Attached to the apex of the crown is a drooping plume of white feathers. A brass chin chain is fixed under the short side brim.
Tunic – White with white cord decoration on the chest and cuffs. On the shoulders are thin cords that bear the badges of rank.
Brass buttons are used throughout.
I am unsure of the rear decoration of the tunic.
Equipment – Leather waist belt with union buckle that probably bears the Iraqi crown in its centre.
Legwear – Dark blue breeches with thin red welt down the outer seams, tucked into riding boots.
Weapon – Infantry pattern sword.
